I will spend much time as needed to convince anyone that stats and
logfile have to be PURE ASCII! Make a second file with pStats or whatever,
but without ASCII, I'll quit the job.

There are millions of tools (at least for Linux) out there for statistical
analysis of ASCII-files, starting at gnuplot, ending EXCEL. 
None of that works with binary data.
