[MPlayer-users] crashes when I try to use -vo xv

I'm having a problem with mplayer crashing whenever I try to use xv as
the output.  I think its a problem with my X or drivers and not mplayer
because it has worked for me before with this same version of mplayer
before I switched from Mandrake to Gentoo.

I have a matrox G400 video card.  xmga works fine but xv crashes with :

X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)

Again, I get similar errors with other applications such as kino.  Where
should I look to locate the problem?  Is it XFree or is it my matrox
driver?  I know that I have to use the ram=16 option when I insmod the
mga_vid.o to get the mga driver to work.  Is there something similar I
should be using?
