Yep. I would like to add a direct x264 encoder module with future 1.1.0
or 1.2.0 release
That would be great -- this is an incredibly good codec, highly compressed, great quality, and it streams!

I'm also interested to add support for aac audio and mp4 container in
transcode.
Yes, that would be extremely useful -- especially files that will play in OSX QuickTime.
But don't hold your breath, there is still a lot of things that need to be
fixed before :\
Setting realistic goals is the first step to actually getting anything done!
x264 doesn't do a great job with threads at this point, but it's nice transcode can access this feature. For v4l, you might also consider fixing up the page I started at http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/Transcode -- I don't think many of the v4l realize transcode may be a good choice for v4l capture; cf. http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/TV_Recording#Live_x264_capture_comparison

Uh, are you one of linuxtv people?
This will be GREAT, I'm *highly* interested in tv-record environment, of
course using transcode, both using v4l and dvb (soon - I need to get a
card), so I would really like to collaborate with linuxtv guys :)
I got the wiki started at http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki almost a year ago and it's growing nicely -- but I restrict myself to documentation. Pay the v4l developers and users a visit at https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list -- they're making rapid progress these days, collaborating closely with the dvb developers, using the same mercurial source management and now git. It would be great if you could integrate transcode more fully!
