My hope is that if threading is required it use only the portable
(common denominator) "POSIX" functions and that the mutex attribute
be constrained to "error checking". "portability by design" rather
than after the fact is _so_ much easier :)
This lib will be replaced soon. The new lib will not use threads and if
it ever will, I'll try to make sure it's portable to all MPlayer
