I'd certainly support removing/deprecating mpeg. I've been fighting 
transcode for two days trying to get my divx->DVD conversions working, 
until I realized that the mpeg module was outputting something strange 
that crashed mplayer/xine/my standalone DVD player with every output 
file. I switched to ffmpeg and everything's great.
