Some DivX5-stuff isn't working? Maybe simply your CD-Rs aren't working?
Or is that downloaded stuff from the internet? Then you cannot really 
expect it to work...

_That_ should be fixed by the avifix-trick. If the files show up or not 
shouldn't depend on the internal MPEG-4 features, because the player 
doesn't see them before you start playing the file.

Bitrate is the _biggest_ factor in quality. The higher, the better (within 
limits).
