thanks Andrew, wow, that's fast. 

I notice important info missing from both INSTALL and wiki: 

the libxvid is mandatory -- There is no way to turn it off, and i get the
following error when not having it:

encode_xvid.c:60:18: xvid.h: No such file or directory

fixed after installed it...
